GAGS Killers are Great White disease hope

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

SCIENTISTS will soon be using killer sharks like Jaws... to save people’s LIVES!

A substance in the livers of Great Whites can cure apparently incurable diseases like hepatitis and dengue fever.

The compound, called squalamine, is part of the shark’s immune system. It is being developed into a drug that will save millions.

Dr Michael Zasloff, from Washington DC’s Georgetown University, said: “I was interested in sharks because of their seemingly primitive but effective immune system. No-one could explain why the shark was so hardy. This is exciting.”
