Jilted hubby ‘murdered’ wife’s lover over affair
A JEALOUS husband stabbed his wife’s lover to death after the rival refused to end the affair, a court heard.
The man followed his wife’s new fella from a party to confront him and demand he stop the relationship.
And as the pair struggled, a knife was pulled out before the husband stabbed his rival in the chest, leg and back as he dived into a nearby taxi, Reading Crown Court heard.
The injured man, Omobolaji Adigun, 41, asked the driver to take him to a police station but died from his injuries on the way.
Eddington Chigora, 44, claimed Adigun had pulled a 25cm kitchen knife after first saying he would not stop sleeping with Chigora’s wife, Dorothy Haparimwi, at any cost.
Chigora, who suffered wounds to his hands, said the injuries were caused in self-defence as he protected himself.
He married Miss Haparimwi in Zimbabwe in 1995 and they arrived in the UK in 2002.
Miss Haparimwi told the court she had never been happy in their relationship.
Chigora denies murder.
The trial continues.
