PICTURED: JACKO’S DEAD BODY
THIS is the tragic image prosecutors say provides damning proof that Michael Jackson’s doctor WAS responsible for the King of Pop’s death.
Lying dead on a hospitalstyle bed with tubing taped over his face, the disturbing image of the singer was produced yesterday in court on the opening day of medic Conrad Murray’s trial for involuntary manslaughter.
Prosecutors claim it proves that Murray had been giving Jackson drugs on the night he died on June 25, 2009, aged just 50.
In a shock move at Los Angeles Superior Court, Deputy DA David Walgren, opening the case against Dr Murray, displayed the image to a stunned courtroom.
He said: “The evidence will show Michael Jackson literally put his life in the hands of Conrad Murray. Michael Jackson trusted his life to the medical skills of Conrad Murray.
“The evidence will show that misplaced trust had far too high a price to pay. It cost Michael Jackson his life.”
Jacko’s parents and his famous siblings Janet, La Toya, Tito, Randy and Jermaine were all in the courtroom.
Walgren insisted the evidence will show that the ‘ acts and omissions of Michael Jackson's personal doctor Conrad Murray directly led to his premature death’.
He said Murray ‘ repeatedly acted with gross negligence, repeatedly denied appropriate care to his patient Michael Jackson, and that it was Dr Murray’s repeated incompetent and unskilled acts that led to Michael Jackson's death.
Millions of people around the world are expected to tune in as the trial gives a glimpse into the final days of the King of Pop.
Crowds had gathered at the courthouse where a lottery was drawn for seats.
Potential witnesses include Jacko’s children Prince Michael and Paris who have said they want to testify.
Medical examiners say Jacko died at his rented LA mansion due to an overdose of the powerful painkiller propofol and sedatives.
Murray’s defence team are expected to argue that the singer was addicted to various painkillers and sedatives and gave himself the fatal dose.
