‘Man killed by punches after thug saw him with his girl’
A JEALOUS thug killed a man after punching him twice when he saw him talking to his girlfriend, a court heard.
Richard Reynolds suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly floored by “powerfully built” Daniel Duckworth while he was out drinking with a work colleague.
Tattooed Duckworth, 36, “marched” up to two men chatting to his girlfriend, Michelle Burrell, in the main street in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorks, shouting “Oh yeah, you think you can chat my f***ing girlfriend up?”, before punching Mr Reynolds, 42, in the face, a court heard.
Reynolds’ colleague, Martin Potts, told the court he heard his friend’s jaw and head “rattling” at the blow.
The prosecution told Bradford Crown Court: “The blow caused Mr Reynolds to stagger backwards into the road. The defendant punched Mr Reynolds a second time. He fell heavily to the floor.”
The jury heard how the defendant, living in Sowerby Bridge but originally from London,
Duckworth allegedly left Mr Reynolds for dead – returning to a nearby nightclub so he could finish his pint.
The prosecution claim that afterwards Miss Burrell could be heard saying, “You could have killed him”, to which Duckworth replied: “I don’t care. F*** off, or I’ll do the same to you”.
Duckworth denies manslaughter and common assault. The case continues.
