Fit ‘crip­ple’ dodges jail

A BEN­E­FITS cheat who claimed she couldn’t walk 20 yards has es­caped jail af­ter be­ing filmed on a FIVE-MILE RUN.

Fit­ness fa­natic Gil­lian Hulme claimed dis­abil­ity liv­ing al­lowance, say­ing she was un­able to work be­cause she found it too painful to walk.

But she joined her lo­cal run­ning club and took part in 54 runs, in­clud­ing a 10k race.

The Depart­ment of Work and Pen­sions dis­cov­ered that the 55-year-old mother-of-one also went to the gym up to five times a week.

She was caught af­ter 10 YEARS of fraud­u­lent claims to­talling £45,925.

At Stoke Crown Court Hulme, from Ben­tilee, got an eight-month sus­pended prison sen­tence and 200 hours’ un­paid work af­ter ad­mit­ting cheat­ing.
