An offer you can’t reboot

THE Italian mafia have swapped horses’ heads in beds for the internet as their favourite way to make threats.

According to experts, the gangsters are making full use of modern technology as they bid to corrupt and control local officals.

While the most common way to threaten politcians remains posting bullets or burning cars, computer savvy Dons are increasingly turning to online methods.

Researchers say 18 per cent of officials in Italy have been threated via email.

Carolina Girasole, mayor of a small southern town, was left fearing for her life after threats were made on her blog.

She said: “I don’t feel safe. They write on my blog making it perfectly clear that they know my movements.”
