Penney in Pools’ sights
DAVE PENNEY is favourite to take charge at Hartlepool after they axed Mick Wadsworth.
Wadsworth, 61, paid for a run of seven straight home defeats to leave the club in the bottom half of League One.
Ex-doncaster manager Penney, 47, has been out of the game since being sacked by Bristol Rovers in March after less than two months in the job.
Caretaker boss Micky Barron is also set to apply for the vacant role.
A club statement read: “The home defeats have been of concern and it was felt that a fresh direction was required.”
