Man quizzed over ‘terror offence’
A STUDENT is being held on suspicion of a terrorism offence after being arrested at Birmingham International Airport.
Police nabbed the Pakistani national – who lives and studies in the UK – after he left a flight from Dubai.
He is now being questioned by officers from West Midlands Police’s Counter Terrorism Unit.
A police spokesman said: ‘A 22-year-old man was arrested at Birmingham airport on suspicion of being in possession of a document likely to be of use to a person committing a terrorist offence, under section 58 of the Terrorism Act.”
It’s unclear whether officers acted on intelligence or whether the suspect was arrested after a customs search.
