Slip-up wo­man gets spiked chin

A WO­MAN is re­cov­er­ing in hos­pi­tal af­ter she was im­paled by the neck on a spiked rail­ing.

Kirsty Scott, 23, slipped on an icy path and landed on the five-inch spike, which was stuck be­neath her chin.

Fire­fight­ers took half an hour to hack­saw through the rail­ing, af­ter which she was taken to hos­pi­tal for emer­gency surgery to re­move the rod.

Ms Scott re­mained con­scious through­out the res­cue in Perth.

Neil Scott, Perth Fire and Res­cue sta­tion man­ager, said she had been “very lucky”, adding: “She was very for­tu­nate that the spike em­bed­ded with­out hit­ting any bones.

“She stayed calm through­out, but be­came quite dis­traught af­ter­wards.”
