Sicko thief robbed dead neighbour!
A “CALLOUS” thief who burgled his neighbour’s home as she lay DEAD has been jailed.
David Hunt, 38, told police he broke into the 61-year-old woman’s flat from his upstairs apartment because he was concerned for her.
She had died some weeks previously.
Once inside he stole her car keys, a mobile phone and jewellery and used her credit card to buy a bike and withdraw cash.
Cops noticed the items were missing after Hunt told them of the woman’s death.
Hunt, of Lytham St Annes, Lancs, was caged for two-and-ahalf years at Burnley Crown Court after pleading guilty to burglary and fraud.
After sentencing, Det Const Philip Gill said: “This was a callous crime.
“Hunt may have initially gone to check on his neighbour – who he had not been seen for some time – but after realising she had died he saw an easy opportunity to benefit financially and stole from the flat.”
