Air host­ess in huge coke haul

AN AIR host­ess has been charged with at­tempt­ing to smug­gle 9lb (4kg) of co­caine into Bri­tain, says the UK Bor­der Agency.

Nige­rian national Chin­wendu Uwakaonyenma Og­bon­naya, 30, was ar­rested af­ter the drugs were found in an item of lug­gage.

She ar­rived at Lon­don’s Heathrow air­port on an Arik Air flight from Lagos in Nige­ria.

Og­bon­naya was charged with at­tempt­ing to im­port a Class A sub­stance and is due to ap­pear at Uxbridge Mag­is­trates.

Marc Owen, di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions at Heathrow, said: “UK Bor­der Agency of­fi­cers are on con­stant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep Class A drugs and other banned sub­stances out of the UK.

“We are de­ter­mined to pre­vent this ter­ri­ble trade which has a de­struc­tive im­pact on so many lives.”
