Air hostess in huge coke haul
AN AIR hostess has been charged with attempting to smuggle 9lb (4kg) of cocaine into Britain, says the UK Border Agency.
Nigerian national Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya, 30, was arrested after the drugs were found in an item of luggage.
She arrived at London’s Heathrow airport on an Arik Air flight from Lagos in Nigeria.
Ogbonnaya was charged with attempting to import a Class A substance and is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates.
Marc Owen, director of operations at Heathrow, said: “UK Border Agency officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep Class A drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.
“We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which has a destructive impact on so many lives.”
