MEN admit they are too SCARED to tell their wife or girlfriend they need to lose weight.

Three times as many men as women say they would be frightened to confront their partner about being overweight.

Almost a third of men said they would find it hardest to point out an excess of lard.

But just 10 per cent of women would find it difficult to tell their man to go on a diet, according to new research from the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk.

Professor David Haslam of the National Obesity Forum said: “Suggesting to someone they should lose a few pounds may not be a comfortable conversation to have.”
