Strictly star’s ex gets jailed for nine years
OUR XMAS/ NEW YEAR PUBLISHING DATES
THE ex-lover of former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Laila Rouass has been jailed for nine years for his part in a £250m VAT fraud.
Nasa Khan allowed a gang of international fraudsters to launder dirty cash through his companies in a “blatant and deliberate cheat on the public purse”.
One of Britain’s richest young entrepreneurs Khan, 39, son of a bus driver and newsagent, founded mobile phone firm The Accessory People.
At the age of 29, he was valued at £45m and featured in The Sunday Times Rich List as the seventh richest in Britain under the age of 30, just behind David and Victoria Beckham.
But as the market declined Khan became involved in a “missing trader” VAT fraud over a three-year period.
Khan ( above), from Kingston upon Thames, who has now split up with the Spooks star, was convicted of three counts of transferring proceeds of criminal conduct after a trial at Southwark Crown Court.
