Foxes set for clear-out
STOKE goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has signed a new contract with the Potters – and annunced the deal on his Twitter account.
Sorensen – who joined the club from Aston Villa in 2008 – will remain at the Britannia Stadium until the end of the 2013/14 season.
The Dane tweeted: “Just signed a new contract this morning.
“Proud to be a Potter for another two-and-a-half years.”
The 35-year-old has played 13 games this season – five in the league, six in Europe and two in the Carling Cup. NIGEL PEARSON is ready to boot out four players in a big January clear-out at Leicester.
Foxes boss Pearson will send Man City star Michael Johnson and St Etienne’s Gelson Fernandes back to their parent clubs early.
Johnson has not played since Pearson’s appointment while Fernandes is not in the Leicester chief ’s plans. He also wants to cancel the contracts of fringe stars Michael Ball and Bruno Berner.
Pearson said: “We’ve got quite a lot of work to do to get this squad into shape and be challenging at the right end of the table.”
