Blues duo could be Russian off in window Thursday – Sky Sports 1, 8pm

Midweek Sport - - SPORT -

FLORENT MALOUDA and Salomon Kalou are poised to be packed off to Russia as Andre Villas-boas speeds up his Chelsea revolution.

The duo will be given one last chance to impress in Thursday’s derby at Spurs.

AVB has already moved on Nicolas Anelka. The Frenchman is now in China with Shanghai Shenhua – who are also lining up ex-stamford Bridge favourite Michael Ballack.

Malouda and Kalou rarely start these days and Russian clubs are lining up January deals for each of them.

France star Malouda, 31, is wanted byanzhi Makhachkala – who are prepared to pay him £150,000 a week.

Anzhi are also interested in Ivory Coast striker Kalou, as are Lokomotiv Moscow.

Villas-boas is happy to wave them both goodbye at the airport to free up space for new blood.

The former Porto manager is desperate to bring young legs in to pep up an ageing team and Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell, 20, is his top target.

One member of the old guard he still can’t do without is John Terry.

The England skipper gave him a fright in Monday by getting hurt during the club’s open training day at Stamford Bridge.

Thousands of supporters saw him hobble out of a practice match because of an Achilles tendon tweak.

Terry is expected to be passed fit for the White Hart clash, which is just as well as David Luiz is injured and Alex out of favour. Midfielder Ramires could also return after time out with a bruised leg.

Tottenham will kick off as London’s top dogs though, as they are two points clear of Chelsea in third.

They beat Sunderland 1-0 on Sunday after Chelsea had drawn 1-1 at lowly Wigan.

And Spurs defender Ledley King reckons it was perfect preparation.

He said: “It was important we looked at that game, not the big one against Chelsea.

“It was important to get back to winning at home where we are always difficult to beat. We did that and now we look to the next game.”

Spurs medics are giving King every chance to play his first midweek game in more than a year.

Boss Harry Redknapp wants his skipper in the team to face Chelsea as Spurs have not lost this season when he has played.

The 31-year-old’s knee swells up and in the current campaign he’s played only at weekends or on Monday nights.

Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon have both been ruled out.

And with Tottenham struggling for numbers in midfield, Redknapp is considering whether to loan Jake Livermore out or keep him as cover.

Spurs are also being linked with 23-year-old Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov – who was at Liverpool but couldn’t get a work permit.
