EVERTON v SWANSEA Tonight – 8pm

Midweek Sport - - SPORT -

DAVID MOYES admits he could struggle to keep Jack Rodwell unless Everton can secure silverware at Goodison.

Midfielder Rodwell has been linked with £20million move to Chelsea since making his England debut last month.

The 20-year-old has also drawn interest from Manchester United after cementing his place in Moyes’ plans.

The Toffees manager insists Rodwell’s immediate future is at Everton, where he is guaranteed a first-team spot between now and Euro 2012 if he remains in form.

But Moyes knows he faces a battle in the long-term to stop Rodwell following Mikel Arteta out of the club.

Moyes said: “We don’t want to be seen as a club which is preparing players for other clubs.

“But obviously the players want to be successful. They want to win things – that’s something I need to consider.”

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has slammed their festive fixture list.

Tonight’s trip to Everton is followed by the visits of QPR and Tottenham on December 27 and December 31, before they head to Aston Villa two days later.

Rodgers griped: “The people who put fixtures together do not have a clue about physical conditioning.

“It’s great and fantastic for supporters to have such a number of games, but players have peaks themselves and they have not recovered from the exertions of the previous game.”
