Five rookies to watch out for in 2012 CHRIS EUBANK JNR

Midweek Sport - - SPORT - SIS LIVE NOVICES’ HANDICAP CHASE (4)

From: Brighton. Age: 21. Division: Super-middleweight. Pro Record: 1(1)-0

WITH his sharp-suited dad hugely influential in his career, it was inevitable that publicity would be thrown upon the strong youngster.

Debut opponent Kirilas Psonko didn’t manage to throw a shot in four rounds before being stopped in Manchester in November. While the scrap lasted, Eubank Jr showed enough to suggest he is a chip off the old block and shares more than just the same ring music as his father.

He had around 25 amateur contests but served his apprenticeship around the world, training from Las Vegas to Angola. Eubank Jn r, who has signed a two-year deal with Mick Hennessy, will be watched more than most British fighters with Channel 5 screening his contests. He expects to be back in action at Blackpool Winter Gardens on January 28.

Eubank Jnr can become a household name.
