IT’S MATA OF TIME BEFORE

FERNANDO TORRES can prove he is no £50million flop despite his ongoing Chelsea nightmare, says fellow Spaniard Juan Mata.

Torres once again fired blanks as the Blues blew their title hopes in the 1-1 Boxing Day draw with Fulham.

That only confirmed a miserable 12 months for the Spain striker, who has had a disastrous time at Stamford Bridge since joining from Liverpool last January.

With one league game left, Torres is set to end 2011 having scored fewer Premier League goals for his new club than he did for Liverpool in the calendar year.

Tough

Torres struck four for the Reds last January – but has notched just three times in the league for Chelsea.

But team-mate Mata reckons the floodgates will soon open for the striker.

He said: “Fernando is working hard every day in training and, for sure, the goal arrives soon.

“Fernando always has the goals and, for sure, for Chelsea he has to score a lot of goals.”
