‘BOTTOM-PINCH LED TO GLASSING’
A RUGBY-PLAYING farmer was glassed after he pinched the bottom of a tutu-clad party girl during a post-match drinking session, a jury heard.
A scuffle started in which the girl’s angry boyfriend allegedly hurled a glass at the victim which smashed in his face and left him with cuts around his mouth.
The trouble flared 15 months ago in the Tavern pub in Barnstaple, North Devon, as a party of young women celebrated a birthday by dressing up in black leggings and pink tutus, Exeter Crown Court was told.
The girl claimed Daniel Smith pinched her bottom but he said he’d only greeted her with the words, “Hello gorgeous”.
CCTV cameras captured the moments before the attack in which two rugby players grappled with Smith before the glass was thrown as they reached a doorway.
John Smith, 23, denies causing grievous bodily harm to Daniel Smith, 30, who is no relation. Trial continues.
