Hughes: Let’s get on with it

ASTON VILLA v QPR Kick-off 7.45pm

Midweek Sport - - TONIGHT'S PREMIER LEAGUE ACTION -

QPR boss Mark Hughes is delighted to put transfers aside and focus on football – against the club he was linked with last summer.

Sparky has been hammering the phone to bolster his squad with Djibril Cisse, Nedum Onuoha, Taye Taiwo and Samba Diakite.

And now he knows the players he is relying on to drag the Hoops out of relegation trouble.

“When the window closes people know exactly what they’ve got, what they have to work with until the end of the season, and they can get on with it,” he said.

Madly

Hughes insists there was never any contact with Villa when Gerard Houllier left and he walked out on Fulham.

“Aston Villa is a good job for any manager, I would suggest. But I was never in the frame for that,” he said.

Current Villa boss Alex Mcleish insists Randy Lerner’s love for the club remains strong – despite the owner tightening the purse strings.

Mcleish has been operating under a strict budget but said: “He’s got business and family in America which is preventing him from getting to games.

“But as far as I can see, he’s madly in love with Aston Villa.”

Marc Albrighton and James Collins miss out for Villa but Charles N’zogbia is fit.
