AL FINE FOR ROY

FULHAM v WEST BROM Kick-off 8pm

Midweek Sport - - TONIGHT'S PREMIER LEAGUE ACTION -

WEST BROM manager Roy Hodgson returns to Fulham for the first time tonight having moved to defuse his bitter feud with Mohamed Al-fayed.

Having led the Cottagers to the Europa League final, Hodgson left Craven Cottage 18 months ago for his doomed spell at Liverpool.

But he came under fire from Fulham owner Al-fayed – who pulled no punches in his assessment of Hodgson at replacement Mark Hughes’ unveiling.

Al-fayed said: “This other guy let us down and just walked away. But we have a nice guy now. Don’t mention Roy Hodgson any more.” But Hodgson said: “Clubs like ourselves look at Fulham and how they established themselves and how we can be like that.

“Don’t forget, when he (Al-fayed) took over Fulham they were just about to go out of business and go into the Conference.

“He is one of the unsung heroes. People don’t talk about his achievements all the time but maybe they should.”
