Ace Kenny’s dad a Train Rob suspect
FORMER Arsenal and England star Kenny Sansom’s dad and uncle were Great Train Robbery suspects.
The revelation comes after the government released files including a list of suspects ahead of the 50th anniversary of the heist.
Among the names of potential suspects on the list of 28 compiled by cops were Kenny’s dad George and uncle Terry. Of the names, 11 were to be convicted.
Neither brother was ever charged with any offence and both died in the late 1980s.
But Kenny ( above), 53, who was capped 86 times, remembers talk of the robbery.
He said: “The story I heard was that my uncle or my dad was offered a driving job in the train robbery.
“Terry was a very quick driver, but felt it was too risky.”
