Rover ’n out for Hoilett

Midweek Sport - - SPORT - By NEIL JOHNSTON

BLACKBURN are set to take a massive financial hit if winger Junior Hoilett leaves the club this summer.

Spurs and Newcastle are ready to pounce when Hoilett’s deal runs out at the end of the current campaign.

Bayern Munich are also keen on the highly-rated 21-year-old, who is reluctant to commit long-term to Steve Kean’s strugglers.

Rovers would be entitled to compensation under the terms of the Bosman ruling because Hoilett is under the age of 23.

But transfers between national associations are subject to different rules.

And it is understood that Blackburn would be entitled to less than £700,000 if Hoilett does head to Germany.

Should Hoilett

join another English side, a fee would be decided by tribunal if it cannot be agreed between the two clubs.

Hoilett, whose performances have seen his value rocket to £5million, has been one of the few positives in a depressing season for relegation-threatened Rovers.

He has netted three times this term, but all Blackburn’s attempts to pin him down to a new deal have so far failed. OUT OF ACTION: Edwin van der Sar says he won’t be returning to Man United’s first team
