SHAUN FANCIES A DIG FOR WIG
SHAUN MALONEY is desperate to get involved in Wigan’s relegation battle after struggling to make an impact at the DW Stadium.
The Scottish winger, 29, was snapped up in a £1million deal from Celtic just before last August’s transfer deadline day.
But Maloney has not made a single Premier League start for the Latics and has managed just three substitute outings.
He is eager to make his mark in yet another Wigan scramble to avoid the drop.
Roberto Martinez’s side landed a significant blow in their survival fight with a 2-1 win at Bolton at the weekend.
And Maloney (above) said: “We played as well as I’ve seen us play for a good few months.
“If we work as hard as that in the majority of the games to the end of the season, then we’ll give ourselves a great chance of staying up.
“But if we don’t, then we’ll struggle to win.”
