Strauss-kahn held over ‘sex ring’

FOR­MER head of the In­ter­na­tional Mon­e­tary Fund (IMF) Do­minique Strauss-kahn has been de­tained for ques­tion­ing by French cops in­ves­ti­gat­ing a pros­ti­tu­tion ring.

Mr Strauss-kahn, once a front-run­ner for the French pres­i­dency, could be held for 48 hours in Lille, north­ern France.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have al­ready ques­tioned a num­ber of hook­ers who ad­mit­ted hav­ing sex with Mr Strauss-kahn.

He in­sists he did not know the women were pros­ti­tutes.

“I chal­lenge you to dis­tin­guish a naked pros­ti­tute from any other naked woman,” his lawyer Henri Le­clerc told French TV.

Mr Strauss-kahn quit as head of the IMF in May 2011 af­ter he was charged with at­tempted rape, which was later dropped.
