Killer makes vile boast from jail cell
A KNIFEMAN boasted of being “judge, jury and executioner” after killing his girlfriend’s pal in a jealous rage.
Wesley Isherwood (above) beat and stabbed 48-year-old Brian Gavigan at his home on Prestwich, Manchester.
Isherwood’s girlfriend Adele Eckersley had an innocent friendship with the victim – but it sparked a murderous fury in the killer, who had a history of violence.
Hours before killing Mr Gavigan, Isherwood, 28, told him to stay away from his girlfriend. He then stole a set of knives from the victim before returning to his home late at night with one of the blades.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Isherwood then beat Mr Gavigan before trying to strangle him, cutting his throat and stabbing him in the abdomen.
While awaiting trial for murder, Isherwood – who was jailed for life after admitting murder – made a boast in a letter to Miss Eckersley from his prison cell.
He wrote: “I don’t feel a damn thing for him... I’m glad he’s dead. He committed a crime that was punishable by death.”
