Artist gives tourists the ‘sexy finger’

A SCULPTOR has ‘piste off ’ skiers by installing a statue of a giant hand giving tourists and locals the MIDDLE FINGER.

Nikolai Winter, 24, spent six months making the seven-foot high sculpture of a woman’s hand delivering the offensive gesture.

The artwork, which weighs two tons and has been covered with a lacquer finish, is now displayed on a hill in the picturesque Swiss resort of St Moritz.

Nikolai has called the sculpture “doigt d’honneur”, which is French for the gesture.

There has been a “mixed” reaction to his “playful” sculpture, one of a collection of seven pieces.

He said: “The aim was to create a hand that was provocative and sexy, yet elegant.

“The reactions have been very mixed, from incomprehension to great admiration but I did not really expect otherwise.”

The Swiss artist did not want to say how much the piece cost , but revealed it to be “in the price range of an upper class car”.
