Bad marking for road sign

Midweek Sport - - FRONT PAGE -

BLUNDERING workmen painting road markings outside a primary school were left red-faced after daubing “SCHOUL” in bright yellow paint.

Pupils boasted how they could spell much better than the adults who painted the warning sign to deter parents parking outside school gates.

And the workmen were invited to attend spelling lessons at Wolvercote Primary School, Oxfordshire, to help out.

Six-year-old pupil Daniel Cox said: “I can spell ‘school’ better than that.”

A parent added: “It wouldn’t be a bad idea if they came back here for a few lessons.”

Council spokesman Owen Morton said there were no immediate plans to repaint the blunder.

He said it would be looked at “in future highway maintenance work in the area”.
