Embalmer has a pawn excuse
AN EMBALMER has been accused of nicking the gold teeth from dead bodies and pawning them for cash.
Adrian Kline, 43, has been charged with theft, providing false information to a pawnbroker and doing the same to a secondhand dealer.
Mortuary employees told police that Kline worked alone as a contract embalmer and that he had access to the crematorium and the room where the deceased are kept.
Police say he sold dental gold to pawn shops or secondhand dealers a total of seventeen times last year, receiving sums from £15 to £600, depending on the weight of the gold.
Kline admitted to the police that he’d pawned the gold, at first saying he took the gold teeth out of the rubbish bins at Aspen Mortuaries in Lakewood, Colorado.
He later told them the teeth weren’t taken from someone’s mouth.
He was bailed.
