Sex favours pen­sioner mur­dered

A JILTED lover who mur­dered a pen­sioner af­ter learn­ing his ex-girl­friend was giv­ing him sex­ual favours was jailed for at least 20 years.

Fu­elled by co­caine and cider, roofer An­drew Monk, 28, stabbed 79-year-old James Land 11 times af­ter dis­cov­er­ing Sadie Ne­wark had agreed to be kissed, groped and pho­tographed top­less when she was un­able to re­pay a string of cash debts.

Miss Ne­wark, 30, had re­cently put a stop to the ar­range­ment but Monk de­cided to kill the help­less vic­tim to prove he “still loved her” af­ter read­ing a note in which Mr Land de­manded she re­pay £120 within four weeks.

Monk later told po­lice he had car­ried out the killing be­cause Mr Land “took lib­erty with my mis­sus”.

Monk was con­victed of mur­der and sen­tenced to life with a min­i­mum term of 20 years.
