Sex favours pensioner murdered
A JILTED lover who murdered a pensioner after learning his ex-girlfriend was giving him sexual favours was jailed for at least 20 years.
Fuelled by cocaine and cider, roofer Andrew Monk, 28, stabbed 79-year-old James Land 11 times after discovering Sadie Newark had agreed to be kissed, groped and photographed topless when she was unable to repay a string of cash debts.
Miss Newark, 30, had recently put a stop to the arrangement but Monk decided to kill the helpless victim to prove he “still loved her” after reading a note in which Mr Land demanded she repay £120 within four weeks.
Monk later told police he had carried out the killing because Mr Land “took liberty with my missus”.
Monk was convicted of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum term of 20 years.
