Cuff jus­tice for mur­der sus­pect

FIRE­FIGHT­ERS were called to a court when a man ac­cused of mur­der be­came ac­ci­den­tally hand­cuffed to a guard.

Wayne Cat­tell, 36, was ap­pear­ing at Ox­ford Crown Court along­side co-de­fen­dant Daniel Mccollin ac­cused of mur­der­ing a home­less man.

But the judge was kept wait­ing when se­cu­rity of­fi­cers failed to find the keys to un­lock the re­straints.

The fire ser­vice had to be called to the cells to free the trapped prisoner us­ing bolt cut­ters.

Bar­ris­ters sup­pressed laugh­ter in court as the sit­u­a­tion was out­lined to Judge An­thony King.

The case was ad­journed to a date to be fixed.
