A SPANISH matador, who was left with one eye after being gored in a bull fight, is back in the ring just five months after the horror incident.

Juan José Padilla, 38, had hours of surgery at the Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza, where surgeons fixed his face with titanium plates.

Padilla – nicknamed ‘The Cyclone from Jerez’ – had no intentions of hanging up his red cape and has made a triumphant return to the controversial sport.

Wearing a fashionable pirate’s eye patch, Juan saw off two half-tonne beasts on his comeback night at the Olienza bullring, near the Portuguese border – to a standing applause from his loyal fans.

Speaking before the fight, Padilla said: “The fans have supported me throughout.

“Now it is my turn to give it back to them in the ring.”
