SOZZLED Tracey Mcgregor hurled a hamster and its cage down a flight of stairs during a row, a court was told.
The 28-year-old ( above) was steaming drunk as she rowed with her half-sister Leanne Anderson as young children watched.
She claimed the hamster, called Jeff, wasn’t in the cage at the time but a court rejected her claim and she was found guilty of animal cruelty.
She was ordered to carry out unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
Sheriff Robert Mccreadie said: “It is fortunate that the hamster was not killed but the distress to the animal must have been considerable. There was distress caused to children, who ran out of the house past the hamster – they were really upset.
“The defendant is noted as posing a high risk of future offending, doesn’t show any remorse, and continues to deny the hamster was in the cage when the evidence points to the contrary.”
Miss Anderson said Mcgregor had been drunk and had been asked to leave the house after shouting and swearing about the teenager and another relative.
She said Macgregor reacted to the request by grabbing the cage with Jeff in it and hurling it down a flight of stairs.
