GIBSON POURS £1M A MONTH INTO BORO
CHAIRMAN Steve Gibson is pumping in £1million a MONTH to prop up Middlesbrough after the club posted losses of £13.8m.
The figures cover the 18 months up to June last year when Boro raked in more than £15m for the sales of Adam Johnson to Manchester City, David Wheater to Bolton and Brad Jones to Liverpool.
Boss Tony Mowbray is bidding to end Boro’s three-season Premier League exile with playoffs success in May.
Teesside hero Gibson – who saved the club from liquidation in 1986 – continues to bankroll Boro through his own company.
Boro chief executive Neil Bausor said: “Even with parachute payments the club has required continued support from its parent company.
“It has backed us at approximately £1m a month in this period.”
