point is nothing. We can’t think about this. We need to think positive always.

“Until now we did a fantastic Premier League and we need to continue like this.

“I am confident because the players know we have a big chance to win this title. I also think we deserve this after being top for seven months.

“We were top of the league until one week ago, so we don’t want to lose this chance to win.

“Many players here have never had a chance like this to win the title.

“If one player plays bad, he can leave the pitch after 30 minutes like Gareth Barry. Gareth played two bad games that month because he had a problem with his back.”

Mancini could be without first-choice centre-back pairing Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott for tonight’s clash.

Skipper Kompany is struggling with a calf problem and Lescott is out with a groin problem.

Mancini will decide this morning whether to stick Carlos Tevez on the bench after six months in the wilderness.

The Argie has not played since September – after refusing to warm up against Bayern Munich – but Mancini claims the striker’s attitude is now better than it was when he was banging in the goals.

He added: “For the last month he has been part of our plans and for the next two months he will be a City player.

“I can say that in training, he has been perfect and better than last year. He wants to play and help the team and his attitude is better.”
