Ad bosses ban midget promo

A BAR has been rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority for hosting a MIDGET party.

Bar Fusion advertised its Christmas Eve Party by stating on its Facebook page ‘Christmas Eve with midgets! For the 1st time in Tunbridge Wells – Party with our very own Xmas midgets’.

One person complained that the party – which cost £5 to get into in the Kent town – was offensive to ‘short statured people’ and irresponsible as it ‘reinforced negative attitudes’.

Bar bosses apologised for causing offence and said ‘with hindsight’ it should not have promoted the event in such a way.

The ASA banned the ad from being used again said it considered the ad ‘portrayed the presence of individuals of short stature as an attraction and source of entertainment’.
