April chill bites back
LAST month was the third warmest March on record with an average temperature of 7.7C.
It was also the fifth driest and third sunniest.
But chilly weather has returned to much of Scotland - with 6in of snow in Aberdeenshire.
Grampian Police said Moray had taken the brunt of the weather. Heavy snow has also fallen across the Scottish Borders, but roads remain passable.
A mountain rescue team was called to help a group of nine people - including six teenagers - stuck by snow in the Cairngorms. They were flown to safety by a Royal Navy helicopter.
