A DRUNKEN pensioner who was thrown out of a Salford pub for trying to hit the landlord got into his car and took his wife on a rush-hour rampage.

Derek Mitchell drove on the wrong side of the road and ploughed head on into two oncoming cars on February 14.

The 68-year-old, who was twice over the limit, drove on and crashed into a third car on the wrong side of the road.

Manchester magistrates heard that Mitchell had been kicked out of a pub in Liverpool Road, Salford, for being abusive and trying to hit the landlord.

He admitted drink driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, having no insurance and two counts of assault.

Mitchell, of Irlam, will be sentenced on April 26.
