Para jailed for kidnap and torture
A FORMER paratrooper has been jailed for eight years for taking part in the kidnap and torture of two brothers.
Anthony Malone, 40, attacked Mohammed and Haq Narwaz after a business meeting had been set up at offices in Stoke Newington, London, on Friday April 20, 2007.
Malone and an accomplice conducted a nine-hour ordeal in which the brothers were handcuffed, whipped on the testicles, hit with a hammer and threatened with a blowtorch.
Malone fled to Afghanistan following the offences and was jailed for two years in Kabul’s Pol-i-charki jail for owing local businessmen money.
Yesterday, wearing a long beard, trench coat and poppy, he thanked Judge Martin Zeidman QC after being sent down at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Malone, of no fixed address, was convicted of kidnap, false imprisonment and actual bodily harm.
Judge Zeidman told Malone: “Given the cruelty of your involvement, the sentence is eight years.”
His accomplice, Ranjit Gojra, 40, of Belvedere, Kent, was also convicted of actual bodily harm and sentenced to 30 months in jail.
