Para jailed for kid­nap and tor­ture

A FOR­MER para­trooper has been jailed for eight years for tak­ing part in the kid­nap and tor­ture of two broth­ers.

An­thony Malone, 40, at­tacked Mo­hammed and Haq Nar­waz af­ter a busi­ness meet­ing had been set up at of­fices in Stoke New­ing­ton, London, on Fri­day April 20, 2007.

Malone and an ac­com­plice con­ducted a nine-hour or­deal in which the broth­ers were hand­cuffed, whipped on the tes­ti­cles, hit with a ham­mer and threat­ened with a blow­torch.

Malone fled to Afghanistan fol­low­ing the of­fences and was jailed for two years in Kabul’s Pol-i-charki jail for ow­ing lo­cal busi­ness­men money.

Yes­ter­day, wear­ing a long beard, trench coat and poppy, he thanked Judge Martin Zei­d­man QC af­ter be­ing sent down at Snares­brook Crown Court.

Malone, of no fixed ad­dress, was con­victed of kid­nap, false im­pris­on­ment and ac­tual bod­ily harm.

Judge Zei­d­man told Malone: “Given the cru­elty of your in­volve­ment, the sen­tence is eight years.”

His ac­com­plice, Ran­jit Go­jra, 40, of Belvedere, Kent, was also con­victed of ac­tual bod­ily harm and sen­tenced to 30 months in jail.
