KILLED OVER WEB AFFAIR Builder gets life for strangling lover who tried to leave
A PROPERTY developer has been jailed for life for strangling his solicitor girlfriend just hours after she underwent a breast cancer operation.
Lawyer Sian Rees told John Doyle she was leaving him after he turned up drunk and late to pick her up from the lumpectomy operation – forcing her to drive home while still coming round from a general anaesthetic.
When they got home, he first stabbed, then strangled her in a jealous rage.
Doyle set off to hide her body on Dartmoor but crashed his van on the way. Police found a leather bra at her feet which he had used to strangle her.
Property developer Doyle, 54, had been living with 50year-old Sian for 14 years.
He was jealous after she started a internet affair with a dentist in which she called herself ‘Sindy Sox’.
She was already fed up with his “drinking, laziness and nagging” but the final straw came when she was left stranded at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital hospital because he went drinking instead of picking her up.
The couple returned to their home at Hatherleigh, north Devon, but Doyle killed her before she could even pack.
Doyle denied murder but was found guilty by a jury at Exeter Crown Court and jailed for life with a minimum term of 16 years by Judge Graham Cottle.
The judge told him: “It is quite clear you were driving the deceased with a view to disposing of the body and the incriminating items used in connection with the murder
“I make clear that I consider your actions after the murder as aggravating seriously the offence.”
