F1 boss’s live suicide call to girlfriend
A DISTRAUGHT girlfriend, 7,000 miles away from her partner, watched in horror as he killed himself on Skype in front of her.
Julie Zalinksi told how her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years slashed his throat and wrists with a broken glass on the internet.
She could only watch helplessly at home in Reading, Berks, for more than 10 hours as blood poured from Adrian Rowland’s wounds in India, where he was on business.
Julie alerted the UK police who contacted authorities in Delhi but they were unable to help the 53-year-old after he refused to open his front door.
An inquest heard laws in India prevented the local police and paramedics from smashing their way into Adrian’s flat and saving his life.
Recording a narrative verdict, Oxford Coroner Nicholas Gardiner said Adrian, who was once a manager in Formula One, was “clearly going through a major mental crisis”.
