Naked arson men set home on fire during pagan ritual
TWO naked men started a house fire in a pagan ritual to remove negative vibes.
Terence Williams, 51, and Aftab Mughal, 21, made the blaze at Williams’ house on Oct 21 last year.
The ceremony involved burning white sage leaves and meditating to cleanse their souls and was related to Wicca – a modern religion based on pagan tradition.
A neighbour spotted smoke coming from the house in Nottingham and saw Williams inside, throwing things onto a fire.
After raising the alarm, he banged on the window to get Williams’ attention as flames licked around the naked man.
Mughal was also inside after going there to seek guidance and advice from Williams.
The men later ran upstairs and away from firefighters, who had to remove them from the burning building.
Williams and Mughal refused to cover up after being offered blankets and said their clothes should be burnt to enhance the ritual.
Both men pleaded guilty to arson at Nottingham Crown Court and were each sentenced to a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work.
