Club banned for ‘f***fest’

AN advert for a nightclub which stated it was a ‘F***fest’ and that clubbers could ‘go home with a stranger’ and see more ‘F**king than David Attenborough could handle’ has been banned.

The flyer was handed out to students at Aberdeen University for a Valentine’s Day event in February this year, and urged them to sample cheap booze at 70p a shot.

One complainant to the Advertising Standards Authority was Aberdeen University, which awarded David Attenborough an honourary degree in 2008.

Aberdeen City Council and a member of the public complained that the ad, for the Pearl Lounge, was offensive as it featured ‘sexually explicit material’ and was irresponsible as ‘Go home with a stranger’ encouraged ‘potentially unsafe practices’.

Bosses at the club said it ‘did not support the message in the leaflet’ and that it was not the promoter’s intention ‘to cause harm or offence’.
