Midweek Sport - - AGONY SPECIAL -

THE BBC has had a third more robberies at its new northern headquarters since moving from London.

Figures show that £325,000 worth of equipment was nicked last year, compared to £239,000 in 2010.

Five Live presenter Rachel Burden last week discussed crime levels in the Salford area – where the £800 million Media City is based.

She was interviewing Olympic hopeful Laura Trott – who said she’d left her World Championship medals in her car.

Rachel replied: “What? Around here?”

Robbed items include 138 ipads, £50,000 worth of cameras and 131 mobile phones.

The BBC said measures had now been put in place to help reduce crime.
