A PRISON worker has been arrested amid claims she had sex with an inmate.

Mental health counsellor Elizabeth Covington, 53, had been employed by a private firm that provides care services to the prison.

Police said she frequently gave Ramon S Rodriguez, a convicted rapist, kidnapper and armed robber, medical passes so he could leave his cell and visit her office for sex.

She was arrested after investigators found her with the inmate, who was only partially-clothed, earlier this year.

Covington ( above) faces two charges of sexual misconduct with a detainee and one of trafficking with an inmate.

The offences are alleged to have taken place at New Castle Correctional Facility in Indiana, US.

Covington was released from custody on £4,000 bail.
