‘Anti-terrorism’ arrests in Luton
FIVE men have been arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, Scotland Yard has confirmed.
They were arrested at separate addresses in Luton, Beds, in an “intelligence-led” operation.
The men, all aged between 21 and 35, are being held at a London police station.
The arrests were made under the Terrorism Act 2000 by unarmed Metropolitan Police officers assisted by Bedfordshire Police.
Police say they were part of an anti-terrorism operation codenamed Nimrod and linked to searches at addresses in the town on Sept 2, 2011.
