‘Pirate’ drowns on record beach
A MAN drowned when the tide came in after falling asleep on the beach just hours after taking part in a world record bid.
Tim Castro ( one of the 14,231 revellers who dressed up as a pirates to set a new world record of the Most Pirates in one Place.
But the 22-year-old mechanic’s body was found the next morning, just hours after the new world record was set in Hastings, East Susse – beating the previous record of 8,740 pirates set in Penzance, Cornwall, last year.
Tim’s parents Ion and Sue Castro said they believe their son died in a tragic accident, saying: “We think he fell asleep on the beach and the tide came in. It’s devastating for us.”
