TV talent killed by pheasant
A FORMER talent show winner was killed after he was hit by a flying PHEASANT while he rode his motorbike.
Drummer Matthew Johnson, 32, died in a freak road crash after the pheasant shot out of a hedgerow and flew straight into his head.
An inquest into his death heard that the bird had hit Matthew with such force that his helmet’s visor was found embedded in the bird.
Matthew, who worked teaching young offenders at a college, was sent flying before his bike landed on top of him in the horror smash last December.
The star, from Stokeon-Trent, Staffs, had a hit single in the late 90s after his band, Marlo, were crowned winners of the original reality TV talent show, BBC’s Get Your Act Together, hosted by Ronan Keating.
A coroner ruled that Matthew’s death was a “tragic accident”after an inquest at Cannock Coroner’s Court.
Afterwards, his mum, Stephanie, 60, said: “Matthew was a wonderful man, six months on, we are still in shock over his death.”
