TOON PULL OFF GOOD SIGNING

Midweek Sport - - THURSDAY AUG 1 - By TREVOR WILLIAMS

NEWCASTLE have snapped up teenage Australian defender Curtis Good from Melbourne Heart.

The highly-rated 19-year-old centre-back has signed a six-year deal at Toon following a successful trial and will join up with his new team-mates this week when they return from their trip to Portugal.

Good a graduate of the Australian Institute of Sport, made 25 appearances for Melbourne Heart in his debut A-League season and hasrepresented his country at Under-19 level.

Heart boss John Aloisi said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Cur tis to test himself at one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom.

“This demonstrates the club’s ability to assist in developing players to such an extent that they’re able to move to one of Europe’s leading competitions.”
