ROVERS AND OUCH!

Blackburn fan Scott loses SEVEN PINTS of blood after goal celebration

- By REX ROWLANDS

FOOTBALL fan Scott Whittle nearly bled to death after he accidentally smashed a window whilst punching the air with delight as his team scored a goal.

Scott, 22, was watching Blackburn Rovers play a Premier League match on TV when he jumped into the air with joy as they scored against Arsenal.

But as he did, Scott put his hand through the plate glass of a door, severing an artery in his right arm and causing blood to spurt from a gaping wound.

He lost SEVEN PINTS of blood and was left fighting for life in an intensive care unit, and hospital medics had to give him emergency transfusions and surgery to save his life.

Yesterday, Scott, of Preston, Lancs, showed off his giant scar and revealed he had kept the broken door as a souvenir of his dice with death last September.

He said: “My team’s goal nearly cost me my life. I only meant to slap the window gently and I never thought that my arm would go through it. If my mum hadn’t been here and were it not for the doctors I would have been a goner.”

I can now feel one side of my hand but some points are numb.”
